The 25-year-old victim was flown by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Deputy Fire Chief James Puleo said.
The victim suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, he said.
The man was working on scaffolding around 11 a.m. at 16 Erick Road when he fell about 25 feet to the pavement, Puleo said.
Police Lt. Frank Archer said a preliminary investigation indicates that it is possible the scaffolding was not erected properly. However, the accident remains under investigation, he said.
Police officers, who were first on the scene, found the victim “going in and out of consciousness,” Archer said.
His condition was stabilized by EMTs and paramedics soon after they arrived and requested the medical helicopter, Archer said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the landing zone at Mansfield High School where they met the helicopter.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating.
